Ah, the poker tilt. If a poker gambler claims never to have peered over the barrel of an upcoming steam – they are either telling a lie or they have not been wagering very long. This does not mean obviously that every poker player has been on tilt before, a number of players have great willpower and carry their losses as a defeat and keep it at that. To be a strong poker player, it’s absolutely critical to treat your wins and your losses in a similar way – with little emotion. You compete in the game the same way you did after taking a hard loss as you would after winning a huge hand. All poker masters are not enticed by tilting following an awful loss as they are incredibly accomplished and you should be to.
You have to be aware that you will not win every hand you’re in, regardless if you are the strongest player. Hands which usually make players to go on tilt are hands that you were the leading choice or at a minimum believed you were until you were rivered and you squandered a big chunk of your stack. Awful defeats are bound to develop. Accept that idea right now, I’ll say it again – if your brother plays cards, if your mother enjoys cards, if your grandma plays cards – They have all had poor defeats sometime. It’s an inevitable effect of participating in Texas Holdem, or for that matter any type of poker.
After all we are assumingly (nearly all of us) in the game for one reason – to win $$$$, it would make sense that we would gamble accordingly to maximize profits. Now let us say you are up $100 off of a 100 dollars deposit, and you suffer a large blow in a No Limits game and your bankroll is down to one hundred and twenty dollars. You’ve squandered eighty dollars in a round where you were assured to pick up $200two hundred dollars when you decided to go all-in on the flop and had a ten to one advantage. And that amateur! He bled you dry on the river? – Well stop right there. This is a classic opportunity for a new bettor to start tilting. They just burned too much cash on one round that they really should have won and they are angry
