Poker has become world celebrated as of late, with televised championships and celebrity poker game shows. Its universal appeal, though, stretches back in reality a bit further than its TV scores. Over the years numerous variants on the earliest poker game have been created, including a handful of games that are not quite poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these particular games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely related to chemin de fer than old guard poker, in that the players bet against the casino instead of the other players. The winning hands, are the traditional poker hands. There is no conniving or different types of deception. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to pay up before the dealer declares "No further bets." At that moment, both you and the house and of course every one of the other players attain 5 cards each. Once you have observed your hand and the casino’s 1st card, you have to either make a call wager or surrender. The call bet’s value is akin to your original wager, indicating that the stakes will have doubled. Giving Up means that your wager goes immediately to the house. After the wager is the conclusion. If the bank doesn’t have ace/king or better, your wager is given back, plus a figure in accordance with the initial wager. If the house does have ace/king or better, you win if your hand is greater than the bank’s hand. The casino pays out chips even with your wager and controlled expectations on your call wager. These odds are:
- Even for a pair or high card
- 2-1 for two pairs
- 3-1 for three of a kind
- four to one for a straight
- five to one for a flush
- 7-1 for a full house
- twenty to one for a four of a kind
- fifty to one for a straight flush
- one hundred to one for a royal flush
