Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker contender on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to learn anything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the negative comments from others kill his dream of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.
He started playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning period and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every day and is quite abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes errors in each game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
