Web Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to make it to the final game in three of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. He won a massive pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest bettors around the world. While participating in net poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He frequently competes in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus generally buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Hansen is a great poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless he is broke, he has absolutely no reason to play at the table with the min buy in.

Buying in for the minimum takes most of the skill out of big stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be 1 of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amount. I think tv can skew our view of the real world at times. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world might just be players you have will not have heard of before. Gus can be seen betting on internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in big stakes Omaha and Holdem. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his talents in cash games?
